Our history starts in the century IX. It’s not a typing mistake. I am talking about facts that happened in Japan around the year 1000 AD. Wars for hegemony, the power of a tyrant bringing on a new religion from abroad, suppression of civil rights, battles for freedom and families escaping from death, while men fell on the battlefield.
A series of events that brought my ascendants from Kyoto to Sado, then to Miyagi where they were for 13 generations, roughly 500 years until four of five brothers were sent to South America, Brazil, in 1931.
When I first stepped on Japanese soil back in 2005, it was like my soul had finally returned to the land that provided a living to my father’s lineage.
